Motobecane Rebuilt 5-Speed Mixte, 19"/48cm

Inspiration for this bicycle came from the classic constructeur style, particularly the Porteur-style bicycle, used to deliver newspapers on Parisian streets. This bicycle has been rebuilt with French bicycles as a template. The frame is a Motobecane mixte, with twin lateral stays, a classic design. Has been completely rebuilt as a 5-speed with a rear derailer. Sports French-style alloy handlebars, inverse brake levers, and a single ratcheting thumb shifter. The thumb shifter is friction only, and ratchets both in up and down shifts, which gives accurate and precise shifting. The handlebars have been wrapped in cloth handlebar tape, then treated with 3 coats of amber shellac, matching the saddle perfectly. Bottom bracket has been completely reconditioned with a new axle to allow a cotterless crank. Headset has been reconditioned as well. The threaded fork fits a standard quill stem. Features a new alloy wheelset. Has ample clearance for full fenders, and can fit a variety of racks. This bicycle is ideal for riders 5'2" to 5'7", give or take.
